Snow Gates

Published: 2nd February, 2015

Shropshire Council Highways have recently installed new snow gates on all the main access routes onto Long Mynd, in South Shropshire, including on the Burway Road and at Ratlinghope. The gates are to be closed when the road conditions are such that the ice and snow make travelling over Long Mynd dangerous for motorists.
Shropshire Council Highways ultimately make the decision on whether the snow gates are to be closed or not; they are then assisted locally by the National Trust in organising the closure at the Burway Road and by local residents in Ratlinghope.
