Mayfair wins National Award

Published: 25th March, 2014

Mayfair is one of this year's winners of a GSK IMPACT Award.  From over 40 charities nationwide who applied to be part of GSK's flagship UK community investment programme, Mayfair Community Centre is one of only ten winners and stood out, due to its community support schemes.

The GSK IMPACT Awards, run in partnership with The King's Fund and now in their 17th year, are seen as a mark of achievement in the healthcare charity sector.  In addition to the £30,000 they receive in unrestricted funding, winning organisations are able to access training, development and networking opportunities through a dedicated programme organised by The King's Fund.

Mayfair Community Centre wil be recognised, along with other award winners, at a ceremony to be held at the Science Museum in London on Thursday, 15th May.  An overall winner, who will receive a further £10,000 in funding, will also be announced at the ceremony.

Nicola McPherson, Chief Officer at Mayfair, said: 'We are delighted to have received national recognition for the work we do here at Mayfair.  It is all thanks to the commitment and dedication of our volunteers, trustees and staff, and the support we receive from our local comunity, as well as the many organisations we work with, from both the voluntary and public sector.  The award gives us a great opportunity to learn from others working within the field, as well as the importance of a significant financial award - which will be very help to our work.'
