Green Deal & Energy Company Obligation launched

Published: 11th February, 2013

The 'Green Deal' scheme will let you pay for a wide range of energy efficiency improvements through your electricity bill.  Payments should be less than the cost of the energy payments a typical household would save.  This is called the 'Golden Rule'.  Funding will be available from the Energy Company Obligation to reduce the payments to help meet the Golden Rule.  This has replaced the previous funding for loft and cavity wall insulation.

The 45 eligible improvements will include solid, cavity wall and loft and room in roof insulation, together with heating and lighting.

Further information is available from the Department of Energy website: www.gov.uk/green-deal-energy-saving-measures - or telephone: 0300 123 1234.  There is a cash-back scheme at present.

A special, short-term free offer is available for landlords of residential properties in Shropshire.  Contact Marches Energy Agency on 01743 277124.

Stretton Climate Care can also provide further information about the Green Deal; e-mail: info@strettonclimatecare.org.uk or tel 07528 493181.
