SANTA LIKES ELECTRIC BIKES
Stretton Climate Care launched their electric bike hire scheme on Saturday 6th December, with a great deal of help from Santa.
Santa, his three apprentices and local elves arrived at Church Stretton station to be welcomed by Mayor Bob Welch and a cheering and waving crowd.
The Mayor and two elves climbed aboard the awaiting horse drawn wagonette followed by the remaining elves on foot. Santa and his apprentices jumped on the electric bikes and rode to the grotto at The Buck’s Hotel.
Santa gave presents to around one hundred children between 11:15am and 2:00pm. Children waiting to see Santa made Christmas cards wishing him a Merry Christmas and thanking him for their presents.
Santa remarked on how polite and well-behaved the children were–well done mums and dads!
Whilst Santa was giving presents his apprentices rode around the town, talked to shoppers and handed out leaflets about the electric bike hire scheme.
For more detailed information please contact Central Garage 01694 723939.
We hope both visitors to Church Stretton and locals will take advantage of the scheme – which we believe to be one of the first in the country. Our thanks to Central Garage for managing the scheme and of course South Shropshire District Council for the funding.
Stretton Climate Care also thank Radio Shropshire for promoting the event, Mayor Bob Welch for his support on the day, the Buck’s Head Hotel for allowing us to build the grotto, Rushbury CE Primary School for finding the elves and providing the mini bus, Karen Griffiths for driving the bus, Pauline Trail for the wagonette, Scrappies for helping with materials and last but by no means least Newsworld for circulating leaflets about the event.

PRESS RELEASE
HO HO HO ELECTRIC BIKES ARE GO
Stretton Climate Care are pleased to tell you that Santa and his three assistants will be riding electric bikes around Church Stretton on Saturday 6th December.
Come and see them on Saturday 6th December when they arrive by train in Church Stretton at 10:37 am. They will be met by local elves and Mayor Bob Welch. A horse and cart will carry the presents to the grotto at the Buck's Head Hotel. The local elves are always friendly and would like to make new friends - so if you know any elves, do bring them along to the station on Saturday morning to meet the train. Even better why not join Santa on the train at Craven Arms, leaving at 10:29 am and travel with him to Church Stretton?
The whole team will proceed to The Bucks Head Hotel where Santa and the elves will distribute presents to visiting children from approximately 11:30 until 2:00pm.
Entry to the grotto is by a suggested donation of £1 per head.
Stretton Climate Care would like to thank Lloyd Nutting and his wife Annie, landlord and landlady of The Buck’s Head Hotel, for their continued support, and Scrappies for helping us find materials to build the grotto.
And last but by no means least Central Garage, without whom our electric bike project would not have been possible.
For those wishing to learn more about our electric bike hire scheme ask Santa or any of his assistants on the day or contact Central Garage 01694 723939 after 6th December. There will also be updated information on our website www.strettonclimatecare.org.uk or phone us on 0752 849 3181.
