| Alan Garner Alan is Chair of the Church Stretton Walking Festival and Principal of Secret Hills Walking Holidays, a guided walking holiday company based in Church Stretton, which arranges holidays in Shropshire, Derbyshire, the Black Mountains, Madeira and Slovenia. A Lancastrian by birth, he has lived in Shropshire since 1995 after 28 years in the Derbyshire Dales. Walking for pleasure was his relaxation; now it's his job. |

Barbara Vickery "I have walked myself into my best thoughts and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it." So said Soren Kierkegaard and Barbara couldn't agree more! Of course she has also walked into some pretty unsavoury things as well...dead sheep, snow blizzards and sprained ankles, but she keeps coming back for more! Barbara is the Secretary of the Church Stretton Walking Festival. |
| Trevor Halsey Trevor moved to Church Stretton in 2005 and enjoys exploring the beautiful Long Mynd and Stretton Hills in the company of the very friendly local walking community. He leads walks for three groups and endeavours to finish a walk at a teashop, the perfect end to a day on the hills. Trevor is the Treasurer of the Church Stretton Walking Festival. |

Eric & Lesley Brown Following their early retirement in 2006 Eric & Lesley dreamt of living somewhere where they could walk out of the front door and climb a hill. Moving to Church Stretton with its hills and valleys of rapidly changing mood made that dream a reality which they would like to share with you. |

Frank & Frances Hay Frank & Frances moved from South East London to Church Stretton so that they could have the luxury of walking straight out of their house onto one of the most fantastic walking areas in England. They have enjoyed many walking holidays and some classic walks, the Wainwright Coast to Coast, the tour de Mt. Blanc and the route de St. Jacques and are now very happy to be walking in beautiful South Shropshire. |

| Nick Robinson Nick is the youngest of our leaders. He has been a National Trust Warden on the Shropshire Hills since 1997. He is very passionate about the property that he works on and helps to manage, and he has a love of the fauna and flora which inhabits the Long Mynd. He is looking forward to sharing his knowledge with the walkers on the walks he is leading. |

Guy Sjögren Guy has been hill-walking for over 50 years and never tires of finding new routes and this is precisely what he has been doing since moving to Shropshire in 2006. He now lives in Church Stretton, a wonderful base from which to explore the glorious yet little-known Shropshire Hills. |
| Gerry & Christine Richardson Gerry & Christine first met on a walking holiday in 1989. They have been walking the Long Mynd and the Stretton Hills since 1990 having moved to south-east Shropshire from Sheffield in Gerry's case and London in Christine's. They moved to Church Stretton in 2008 and enjoy living in the area and finding out about the local landscape, wildlife and history. |

Mike & Joyce Hall Having camped here and attended the Walking Festival since 2007, Mike & Joyce identified Church Stretton as their ideal retirement location -- beautiful scenery and incredibly friendly residents. The dream was realised and they finally moved here in 2010. Mike will be helping out on the walks and Joyce will be on reception duty to greet the walkers when they arrive. |
| Liz & John Knowles Liz & John fell in love with the Shropshire Hills on a few short holidays and moved to Church Stretton in 2009. They've both got local jobs now and so are here to stay. "Our favourite walks are still ones from our front door". Wonderful moorland, great views, rocky outcrops and deep valleys offer fantastic contrasts even on short walks. |

Cath Landles Cath is the Community Officer with the Shropshire Hills AONB Partnership. She is looking forward to giving walkers an insight into why the Shropshire Hills was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and what the AONB team are doing to care for this nationally important landscape. Outside of work, Cath loves nothing better than walking or horse riding in the hills. |
| Paul Wynn Paul is a qualified mountain leader, joint owner of 'Spike Outdoors' in Shrewsbury, teacher and all round raconteur. He has been involved in outdoor education since 2001 and has helped to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh's Award within the county. He believes that, with some basic map and compass skills, the hills and mountains of the UK can easily be unlocked so that we can all enjoy them much more fully. |

Dick Ward Dick has known and loved the Shropshire Hills for nearly forty years and shares his love of these hills with other people by leading walks for a variety of groups. In return for the pleasure this area has given him, he helps maintain the footpaths in the area with other volunteers in the Church Stretton Parish Paths Partnership and the National Trust. |
